The candidate selected for this position will be involved in core leadership team activities. In this position, you will organize and support meetings, communicate and coordinate with members, track progress towards identified goals and outcomes, research and synthesize activities and assist with additional special projects as assigned. You will be engaged in the Chesapeake Bay Program’s innovative Strategy Review System process, which tracks progress towards the Chesapeake Bay Program partnership’s restoration goals by learning from past actions. This includes coordinating partnership reviews, consolidating feedback and working closely with the Enhancing Partnering, Leadership and Management Goal Implementation Team. The experiences, skills and network gained from the three-year appointment will be valuable to someone seeking further education and/or career development in the policy or scientific fields. Summary/Objective
Provide science-based programs to maintain the health & prosperity of Missouri's bat species and other wildlife populations.

Essential Job Duties
Develop, administer, coordinate, and implement policies, surveys, protocols, and projects.
Administer research and monitoring for Missouri's bat species especially species of conservation concern.
Create statistically sound research study designs, and conduct ecological research, monitoring, and surveys focused on Missouri's bats.
Provide leadership within the Department related to bat conservation and management including reviewing and commenting on internal and external study and management plans.
Solicit, collect, organize, evaluate, prepare, and populate data for database entry, and incorporate information into various databases.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
Train staff and partners on bat conservation and identification, the use of databases, and data interpretation, through workshops and training sessions.
Monitor federal and state listing status of bats, coordinate status reviews, and collaborate with other specialists to ensure accuracy.
Lead or participate on species recovery teams and species advisory groups relating to listed bats and other species of conservation concern.
Review federal recovery plans and research proposals submitted by other agencies.
Participate in budget, contract, and federal aid and/or other grant proposal preparation.
Perform literature review and logistics planning for field activities.
Prepare various technical and non-technical presentations and publications for scientific journals, papers, posters, pamphlets, websites, and popular articles.
Respond to oral and written requests for information.
Collect, evaluate, and approve/deny Wildlife Collector's Permit Applications.

Ancillary Job Duties
Serve on internal and external regular and special committees.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Wildlife Ecology, Natural Resources, Biological Science, or related.
At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
Firefighting training, preferred.
Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to use office equipment, such as copier, phone system, fax, scanner, and computer.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially scientific writing
Advanced taxonomy knowledge
Familiarity with statistical analysis.
GIS/GPS knowledge
Ability to travel overnight and work varying hours and shifts

Work Environment
Regularly work in outdoor environments where hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions exist.

Physical Abilities
Remain stationary up to 70% of the time.
Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
Regularly operate tools and other machinery and relocate machinery to other areas.
Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
Clarity of vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Regularly lift up to 30 pounds, correctly lift up to 75 pounds.
Concentrated attention is required at all times.
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

6-month Biological Field Crew Positions
Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is seeking volunteers for the biological program at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge from late July, 2020 to mid-January 2021. The biological program focuses on controlling and removing non-native species and to maintain, conserve, and restore quality habitat to meet the needs of indigenous plants, seabirds, water birds, monk seals, and sea turtles. In addition to being a National Wildlife Refuge, Midway Atoll is also designated as the Battle of Midway National Memorial and is part of Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. Midway Atoll is a remote field site located over 1,300 miles from the main Hawaiian Islands and is inhabited by a small community of ~50 residents comprising FWS staff, volunteers, and contractors.

The Executive Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of administrative responsibilities, as well as office and grants management. The Executive Assistant will be joining the team in the Chesapeake office located in Annapolis, MD which includes three staff members. They will also work closely with staff members in the San Francisco, CA office.
