Natural Resources Technician I - Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MULTIPLE VACANCIES) 

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Monitoring and Non-Tidal Assessment Division (MANTA) is currently accepting applications for multiple seasonal Natural Resources Technician I positions. The selected candidates may assist with the collection of water quality, biological, and habitat data in both tidal and non-tidal rivers of Maryland, the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland’s Coastal Bays and Deep Creek Lake.

Primary duties include collecting water quality samples, measuring stream and storm flow, surveying for freshwater mussels, compiling and entering monitoring data to assist with reporting. Sampling may be conducted from boats, bridges, piers and within streams. Duties may also include maintaining and calibrating water quality sampling equipment, preparation of sampling/ laboratory supplies, maintenance of aquaculture systems, conducting data verification and analysis, delivery of samples to the laboratory and other duties as assigned.

1 position - Full-Time - 580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Anne Arundel County

Natural Resource Specialist II (Biological/Geomorphic Lead) - Baltimore County Department of
Environmental Protection and Sustainability

Under general supervision, this position performs professional management of watershed monitoring programs pertaining to NPDES MS4 and TMDL required monitoring through fieldwork, investigations, data analysis and report preparation. They may assign and review the work of subordinate personnel or act as a project manager.
- Performs complex environmental and natural resources research pertaining to water quality, compiles detailed information, makes analysis, and prepares reports on environmental issues, areas, and problems.
- Completes preliminary studies of difficult environmental problems associated with water quality issues.
- Monitors and reports water quality issues of difficult complexity for compliance with County and Stat  laws and regulations regarding the protection of natural resources, including watercourses, wetlands, water pollution, aquatic habitats, rare and endangered species, agriculture, forests, and wildlife habitats.
- Conducts field investigation surveys of watercourses, private and public infrastructure, wetlands, forests, and wildlife habitats.
- Investigates and recommends corrective or mitigating actions for degraded streams and wetlands.
