Job Opening - CRC Water Quality Goal Team Staffer at the Chesapeake Bay Program Office

There is an opening within CRC's Environmental Management Career Development Program, which provides coordination support to the Chesapeake Bay Program.  This position will provide support to the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Water Quality Goal Implementation Team.  The WQGIT coordinates and provides support to the Chesapeake Bay Program partners in implementing nutrient and sediment reduction efforts necessary to meet the water quality goals set to restore the Bay's living resources. The goal team’s primary focus is to support efforts to reduce and cap the nutrient and sediment loads entering the Bay and to ensure that these reductions are maintained over time. The Staffer in this position will focus on topics such as agriculture, land use, the Conowingo Dam Watershed Implementation Plan, and wastewater.

 

The candidate selected for this position will be involved in core leadership team activities associated with the WQGIT and its assigned workgroups. Through coordination, logistics, and documentation you will gain hands on experience working with natural resource managers from agencies and institutions around the Chesapeake Bay. You will also have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skill to special projects and assignments as needed. Special projects will vary according to workgroup needs and candidate interests, and may include: development of communication materials, policy and technical research, grant application and management, and/or analysis using the Chesapeake Bay Program’s modeling tools and environmental monitoring data.

1. Account Manager, Energy Efficiency - Columbia, MD

Job Description 

ICF is currently seeking an experienced account manager to support our energy efficiency program implementation in Maryland. This individual would be responsible for managing a pipeline of new and existing customers and trade allies to ensure our programs meet participation goals. The successful candidate will also contribute to the internal operations of the programs, supporting the program manager with tasks such as reporting, application review, forecasting, marketing development, and client support.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with major local and national and regional distributors, suppliers, and manufacturers to support their participation in the programs
  • Cultivate and develop new relationships and partnerships with trade allies and professional organizations to ensure program awareness and adoption
  • Maintain strong ongoing communications with participants and other interested stakeholders in order to assess their needs and to receive feedback on their experience with the program
  • Preparing and presenting targeted presentations as well as promoting program awareness and participation at trade shows, trade organization and stakeholder events, supply house counter days, ride-alongs, etc
  • Provide program representation at trade shows, trade organization and stakeholder events, supply house counter days, ride-alongs, etc
  • Assist multiple program managers with the development and implementation of promotional strategies

 Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience managing successful energy efficiency opportunities, with specific expertise in one of the following: HVAC contractors, distributors, commercial real estate, federal government, or retail customers.  
  • 2+ years of experience with  MS Office Applications (Dynamics, Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • 2+ years of experience with developing and/or implementing data collection, tracking and reporting processes (i.e. customer relationship management (CRM) efforts)
  • Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Strong proven success in an outside sales role and/or business development
  • Strong follow-up and follow through skills and ability to successfully close sales
  • An energy efficiency background with a solid knowledge of building mechanical systems or commercial lighting
  • Economic analysis and familiarity with DSM program planning and evaluation
  • Utility experience and understanding of DSM program implementation

2.  Program Support, Energy Efficiency - MD/ VA/ DC area

Job Description:

To support our growth we are seeking a junior level candidate to provide Utility Program support for ICF’s Commercial Energy Division. You will contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. A number of current projects include innovative technology products such as smart home, smart thermostats, and the internet of things (IoT). 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update high quality client reports
  • Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and databases for internal tracking
  • Support various Program Managers with data management and analysis
  • Provide regular program status updates
  • Assist with customer engagement around smart home technology
  • Handle and track issues brought by subcontractors and customer service representatives

Project Coordinator: Energy Efficiency Division, Columbia, MD

This role will be remote as we continue to move through the pandemic, but once on-site work resumes, you will be working in our Columbia, MD office.

Job Description:

To support our growth, we are seeking entry level candidates with a strong interest in energy efficiency. This position requires experience with utility energy efficiency programs and knowledge of energy efficient technologies associated with commercial building systems. Knowledge of energy efficient technologies and practices related to lighting, motors, HVAC systems, commercial building energy technologies or experience in the building trades is a plus. Prior experience or a strong interest in one or more of the following is a plus:

  • Experience performing energy audits and energy savings calculations
  • Lighting retrofit designs and assessment and installation
  • HVAC System assessment, operations and maintenance
  • Interacting with business owners, representatives and other key stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the C&I energy efficiency team ensuring that the evaluation, implementation and verification of utility sponsored energy efficiency projects are successfully executed
  • Review project application forms and submittals by customers, contractors, engineers/consultants and other program participants in order to ascertain compliance with program policies and procedures
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance on energy efficient technologies and practices to companies participating in utility-sponsored programs
  • Review technical specifications, engineering calculations and cost estimates for energy efficiency projects
  • Interface with customers and contractors participating in utility sponsored programs
  • Perform energy savings calculations for prescriptive energy efficiency measures and upload records into program database
  • Process paperwork for program incentive payments per established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with or follow up on program quality control activities such as inspections and customer surveys as appropriate
  • Conduct lighting and other energy using equipment surveys to verify installation and operation of energy efficiency equipment

PhD Position - Bat Ecology

 The Ohio University Bat Lab is seeking a highly motivated student for a Ph.D. research assistantship. The position is fully funded and will begin in the fall 2021. Our lab focuses on mammal ecology and conservation, with a focus on bats. Our goals are to promote species conservation and to mentor the next generation of mammalogists through research, sound stewardship, and public outreach. To those ends, our students use a diverse set of tools in the field and in the lab to ask questions about bat ecology and physiology in Ohio and beyond.

A Ph.D. student is currently needed to lead a study of bat winter ecology and habitat management in Ohio. The student’s primary duties will be to conduct winter surveys throughout the state, deploy and manage environmental dataloggers, maintain a novel monitoring system, and provide management recommendations based on the data collected. The ideal candidate will be able to build upon the funded project to create their own research questions as part of their doctoral training. Additional duties may include harp trapping and radio-telemetry, and candidates with background working with bats are strongly encouraged to apply.

A strong work ethic and passion for biology is required. Experience with bats is preferred, but exceptions are possible for candidates with other highly sought-after skill sets. Candidates with a master’s degree in a biology-related field are desired, but exceptional students with bachelor’s degrees will be considered. Regardless of the highest degree achieved, applicants must have experience working in the field, a fundamental understanding of bat winter ecology, and a strong background in statistical software such as R. Because the student will often work with DIY electronics, confidence with working with tools, electronics, and computers are strongly desired.
