NATURAL RESOURCES TECHNICIAN III
 
The position requires a motivated, organized individual who must be able to work independently to collect field data through the monitoring of experimental sites and survey work. This includes collecting basic water quality parameters using handheld multimeter devices, operating of boats and equipment, conducting inventories of fish populations, capturing and measuring fish species of interest, conducting avian monitoring, including nest box fate and call back surveys, and maintenance of bird nesting boxes, maintaining records and data entry, assisting with outreach and communication, maintaining field and laboratory equipment and performing other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Education: Completion of sixty credit hours from an accredited college or university, 18 of which are in biology, biochemistry, environmental science, forest technology, arboriculture, aquaculture, natural science, natural resources management, botany, marine biology, marine ecology, physical oceanography, ichthyology, fisheries management, wildlife management, zoology, or a natural resources management related field of study.
 
Experience: Two years of experience in technical biological work in the field of natural resources management.

Job Announcement - Bat Biologists
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission 

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)/Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) is looking to hire two temporary biological scientists to conduct research on the foraging and roosting ecology of the federally endangered Florida bonneted bat (Eumops floridanus) in south Florida. This research will occur throughout the range of the Florida bonneted bat but will be concentrated in southwest Florida in several conservation areas east of Naples, FL. Both positions will begin in early January 2020 (exact start date negotiable) and will work closely with other biologists at FWC and the University of Florida. Job Title: Geographer (GS-0150-7/9/11)

Detroit District is seeking a Recent Grad geographer that will utilize knowledge of surveying, geodesy, photogrammetry, mapping, engineering, sciences, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Computer Aided Design (CAD), to plan, coordinate, and accomplish surveying, mapping, and GIS work in support of the District’s civil works missions. This includes a wide variety of projects in the areas of planning, engineering, construction, operations and maintenance. The work involves a wide variety of techniques utilizing current state-of-the-art computer equipment and technology involving a variety of interrelated elements. An ideal candidate will have a technical background and advanced working knowledge of computer automation principles and information systems, particularly involving GIS, CAD, photogrammetry, relational databases, web technology, global positioning systems (GPS), coordinate systems, and field surveying.

Duties will include the following:
1.   Identify and develop GIS applications and to promote the technology. Develop geo-referenced digital databases and ensures database information is correctly linked to appropriate mapping elements so that analyses of the information can be performed, displayed and outputted to create final products. Assist with the development and implementation of District GIS implementation plans.

2. Plan, develop and acquire geospatial data using appropriate tools and sources. Convert data from various graphic and non-graphic formats to electronic formats, and from various electronic and hard copy media. Generate three-dimensional digital terrain models, topographic contours and cross-sections from topographic survey or photogrammetric data. Perform land surveys including topographic surveys and establish vertical and horizontal control at various project sites.

3. Perform and assist in the performance of topographic and hydrographic surveys around the Great Lakes Region. Review survey data and deliverables produced by coworkers to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.
