Fellowship - Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL)

Legislative Fellow (Fall 2020, Washington, DC / Remote)

Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree. The Legislative Fellow will be a contributing member of CCL’s government affairs team. The primary duties of the Legislative Fellow include helping with research, building relationships with diverse advocacy organizations and congressional offices, and attending congressional hearings/briefings on behalf of CCL. Fellows will become conversant with CCL’s unique organizing tools, and methods, which are designed to empower all citizens to engage in advocacy and outreach work in pursuit of a sustainable climate and healthy democracy. Additionally, fellows have the valuable opportunity to work on the government affairs side CCL work to see how grassroots organizing effectively intersects with policymakers and the other entities that influence them. Brown Environmental 13 is seeking qualified applicants to fill a three -four-week technician
position for August 2020. The applicant should have field experience and the necessary skills to manage bat acoustic surveys and data. This is a temporary position. There is potential for an extension into September.


Job Description:
Applicants can expect to work long days with constant travel. This position requires lifting and carrying heavy equipment while working and hiking in challenging environments, rugged and uneven terrain. Daily duties include hiking equipment into remote sample sites, setting up acoustic equipment, data management, and assisting with camera surveys.


Qualifications:

➢ Experience of setting up and managing bat acoustic surveys
➢ Willing to travel for extended amounts of time
➢ Available the month of August.
➢ Good communication skills, concise data documentation, detail oriented, well organized,
self-motivated, positive attitude, professionalism, and a team member.
➢ Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
➢ Experience with GPS and hiking into remote locations with steep terrain
➢ Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record


• Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Location: Office is based in Cary, North Carolina; however, surveys will be located in
Florida and throughout southeast.

Paid Internship Opportunities
US Forest Service

Environment for the Americas has some opportunities that might be of interest to students who have recently graduated or graduate this summer. 

We have seven new 6 to 12 month paid internship positions (and benefits!) with the US Forest Service. Upon successful completion of the program, which starts in September, participants earn Direct Hire Authority (DHA), meaning they qualify for Non-Competitive Eligibility for term, temporary, and permanent Forest Service positions.

These positions offer a unique opportunity for employment at these uncertain times of COVID-19, and the big prize at the end - DHA! Particular attention will be given to ensure full representation of women and participants from historically Black, Hispanic, and Native American schools or other schools with diverse student populations.
