Part- and Full-time jobs at Alluvion Aeroponics

Alluvion Aeroponics seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual wanting to open a world of opportunity in the produce distribution field where the USDA has identified weaknesses requiring investment and resourcefulness. Baltimore City’s urban agriculture production capabilities are being enhanced by construction of the City’s first large-scale vertical farm located in southwest Baltimore.

Alluvion is part of a renaissance of the city’s legacy of growing vegetables and fruits and with it, access to healthy food, nutrition education, competitive-wage careers in modern urban agriculture, and community revitalization.  Produce grown with controlled environment agriculture (CEA) can be harvested every month by year-round (not seasonal) employees, close to the point of consumption. Pesticide-free crops have higher yields and require far less water. Growing produce closer to the consumer reduces transportation/energy costs and helps to keep items fresher longer.  All contributing to a much more sustainable growing process.

We seek an individual who will perform multiple tasks:

  • Prospect for commercial buyers of fresh produce (grocers, restaurants, caterers, etc.)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of product versus competing options and match needs with available product, record customer feedback
  • Provide attentive, responsive service including handling objections/complaints
  • Present weekly reports of prospecting activity and sales performance
  •  Design sales literature, display material and promotional programs

Essential requirements for the position include:

  • Outside sales experience
  •  Demonstrated interest in foodservice
  •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  •  Initiative & enthusiasm
  •  Passion for building relationships
  • Motivated to work independently
  • Organized and highly disciplined
  •  Proficiency with Excel and preparing proposals
  •  Familiarity with social media influence on sales
  •  Driver’s license and vehicle
  •  Physical ability to load and transport produce when needed

Compensation at very competitive base pay plus commissions recognizing sales accomplishment.  Full benefit package available at end of first year.  Opportunity to advance as organization grows.

Alluvion is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
